HeartShare St. Vincent's Services, 2022
Led a participatory mural project in the foster care visitation center with staff and donors. Design was conceived through workshops with clinic staff. Once approved, I laid out the composition and prepped the walls and paint for a community paint party with corporate volunteers from Apax Partners. Volunteers blocked in each element and I spent subsequent weeks adding details and rendering objects.
The design was intended to evoke feelings of comfort and safety for young visitors while they wait for sessions with their biological families and/or caretakers. It was also intended to inspire caretakers with examples of ways that they can connect with their children. Having previously worked in the outpatient mental health clinic downstairs, this mural was particularly meaningful to me as I was already aware of the struggles that families face within the foster care system.
